What is this?

Maid Cafe Programming School is a free, open-source VS Code extension that lets you ask your local aruaru-llm AI teacher — grounded by aruaru-search (unlimited, no API key needed) — questions right from your editor, with your selected code and file path attached automatically. It exists because open-english's browser chat alone couldn't pass editor context (selected code, file paths) to the AI teacher, limiting the "learn while you build" experience to copy-pasting back and forth.

Learn while you build, with aruaru-search + aruaru-llm

Alongside the completely free aruaru-search + aruaru-llm AI teacher, you can choose free-trial ChatGPT, DeepSeek, or Grok, or — the most capable but paid option — Claude Code Desktop. Combined with open-english, you can learn Japanese, English, or a world language together with an AI, while also using freelance job listings and internet news as material for language learning, programming practice, and even learning to build mobile apps and websites — all while enjoying building something real together.

AI-provider tip: if you use Claude, choosing Sonnet at a lower reasoning effort is a good default — smart enough for most tasks, fast, and relatively light on token usage.

Claude Code(有料版)なら、GitHub・VPS・ローカルドライブの操作も自動化できる

有料版のClaude Code(Desktop/CLI)をご利用の場合、無料のGitHub(公開リポジトリ・ 非公開リポジトリのどちらも選択可能)でトークンを発行してローカルドライブに保存し、 Claudeにその場所を指定するだけで、新規リポジトリ作成やpush等の アップロード、読み書きの自動化が可能になります。

VPSレンタルサーバー(有料)をご契約の場合も同様に、秘密鍵・公開鍵をローカルドライブに 保存してClaudeに指定すれば(GitHubトークンと同じ要領です)、VPSへのアップロード・ ダウンロード、フォルダ名・ファイル名の変更や削除まで自動化できます。

With paid Claude Code, automate GitHub, your VPS, and local files too

With paid Claude Code (Desktop/CLI), you can issue a token for your free GitHub account (public or private repositories, your choice), save it to your local drive, and simply point Claude to it — enabling automated repository creation, pushing/uploading, and reading/writing files.

Likewise, once you have a paid VPS rental server, saving your private and public SSH keys to your local drive and pointing Claude to them (the same way as the GitHub token) enables automated uploading/downloading to the VPS, as well as renaming or deleting folders and files there.

Of course, automating folder creation, deletion, and read/write operations on your local drive is possible too.

Honest disclosure: this is a general capability of Claude Code (Anthropic's AI coding agent), not a feature of this extension itself. Tokens and private keys are something you provide and control yourself, and the scope of what Claude is allowed to do is always up to you (risky actions are generally confirmed with you first).

You can also ask Claude to build free GitHub → GitLab auto-backup sync

Whether your repository is private or public is entirely your choice. If you choose GitLab as the free backup destination for your GitHub repository, the maximum size per repository is up to 10GB. Using GitHub's free features, you can also ask Claude to develop a system that automatically syncs backups to other sites such as GitLab.

Honest disclosure: this too is a general capability of Claude Code, not a feature of this extension itself. The actual sync mechanism (GitHub Actions, a scheduled job on your VPS, etc.) depends on your requirements — this page just points out that it's possible.

How to use it

1. Make sure aruaru-llm is running locally (default http://127.0.0.1:4600)
2. Install the extension from the VS Code Marketplace — search "Maid Cafe Programming School" inside VS Code's Extensions view, or install from the command line:

Honest disclosure: this extension implements no AI inference, search, or music generation of its own — it is a thin client that talks to your own locally running aruaru-llm (and, for Study BGM, aruaru-search's archive.org search, proxied through aruaru-llm). If aruaru-llm isn't running, you'll see an honest connection error rather than a fake answer.
